Nutrition Knowledge Is Very Important 
When you hear the word nutrition, you may just think of food. However, there are different types of nutrition. There is bodybuilding nutrition, for instance, and then there is performance nutrition. Performance nutrition focuses on an event or an activity. Performance nutrition should be studied by any athlete or workout warrior as it will ensure you always bring your best.

Read Labels
For performance nutrition to work effectively, you must study food. You must know what’s in the foods you eat, you must learn to read those labels. Reading food labels will allow you to know how many calories are in a certain food, how much fat, how many carbohydrates, how much sodium as well as how much protein is in it. Performance nutrition involves requires you to eat certain types of foods at certain times.

Right Before The Event Or Activity
Performance nutrition will have you eating what you need in order to perform well during your event or your workout or activity. If you are about to run a race, you may want to eat more carbohydrates for energy as well as protein to keep your leg muscles working. You may eat more before a race than you usually do because you want to ensure that you have enough fuel to get to the finish line first.

It’s the same with a workout. Eating before your workout will give you the fuel to push that that workout at maximum intensity. That’s how bodybuilders lift those heavy weights around, they eat a lot, using muscle nutrition, before their workouts and then they eat right after. Performance nutrition at other times of the day may involve eating the same foods but in smaller portions. You still want to have fuel to get through your day and to keep your muscles strong, but you don’t want to eat too much because your body doesn’t need it. That’s the key to performance nutrition, to always give your body only what it needs.

Read And Learn About Food
To become skilled at performance nutrition, you must study up on food. You must learn what types of foods to eat at certain times and then you’ll know what to eat and when. You can read online about food, you can read books on the subject and you can even ask a doctor or nutritionist. Once you get good at performance nutrition, you’ll know what to eat to always play your best, workout at your best, or get through your favorite activity at your very best.
